Excursions

The conference guests can choose to take part in one of two excursion programs organized by the NCSR 2026 conference:

  1. Åbo Akademi University Campus Tour: A walking tour of the Academic Quarters – the historical center for both educational and religious institutional life in Finland. The tour is led by Airi Forssell, former librarian at ÅAU University and an official guide in Turku.
    • The tour starts at 9.30 at the Arken lobby and takes approx. 1.5 hours.
    • It is free of charge, and no prior registration is needed.
  2. Samppalinna Outdoor Swimming Stadium: Come and enjoy the scenic Samp­palin­na Outdoor Swimming Stadium in the middle of the city!
    We’ll meet at Arken at 9:30 and head to the stadium on foot (25-minute walk). You can also arrive directly at the Samp­palin­na Outdoor Swimming Stadium (Address: Volter Kilven katu 2) at 10.00.
    • Admission: adults 8,40€  (everyone pays their own admission) 
    • Please bring your swimwear and a towel. Slippers are handy, too. Swimwear and towels can be rented from the ticket office if needed.

Conference Dinner

The NCSR 2026 conference dinner will be held at Restaurang Kåren (Hämeenkatu 22) on Thursday, 13 August 2026 (18:30-22:00).

You can either go directly to the restaurant at the event’s start time or join a group led by one of the conference volunteers for a short walk to the restaurant.

  • The meeting point is in front of the Turku Cathedral (Map location).
  • The group will move at 17:45.
