Resources and Information for SOS Booster-funded Projects
We have compiled below some useful materials and information for projects that are funded through the SOS Project Booster. This page is continuously updated as needed, and we are happy to receive ideas and feedback from you. If you cannot find what you need below or if you have any questions, please email us at sos@abo.fi.
Contacts
- For any questions regarding project finances (payments, budget monitoring, invoicing, etc.), contact ÅAU Project Controller Jonas Lang (jonas.lang@abo.fi).
- SOS WP5 (Theory and methodology) will study the Booster-funded projects for research purposes. In practice, this means that Project Researcher Einat Amir will conduct interviews with your project team and participate in some of your meetings, studying and documenting processes within the project. With any questions regarding this, you can contact Einat (einat.amir@abo.fi).
- For any general queries, contact Coordinator Malla Lehtonen (malla.lehtonen@abo.fi / sos@abo.fi).
SOS/ÅAU Support
Administrative support
- SOS coordinator Malla Lehtonen (malla.lehtonen@abo.fi / sos@abo.fi) can assist with, for example:
- publicizing your project and related events, surveys, publications, etc. through SOS and ÅAU channels,
- booking meeting rooms at ÅAU for project meetings, if you do not have access to the ÅAU booking system,
- connecting you with suitable collaborators within the SOS community, if needed.
- Please note that your project team is responsible for the general administration and coordination of the project, including budget monitoring and any event planning/management.
- With questions related to project finances, you can contact ÅAU Project Controller Jonas Lang (jonas.lang@abo.fi) for assistance.
- You can find the ÅAU invoicing addresses for domestic and foreign suppliers here. For invoices, provide the supplier with the ÅAU invoicing address, your project number, and your name.
Interdisciplinary mediation and facilitation
- SOS will support your interdisciplinary project by offering interdisciplinary mediation and facilitation when needed. With any questions regarding this, please contact Einat Amir (einat.amir@abo.fi).
Communication
SOS communications
- In our own communications, SOS will use the title and description that you provided in your Booster application. You can check the information here.
- If any changes occur and/or you wish to edit the project title or description for future communications, please notify us (malla.lehtonen@abo.fi / sos@abo.fi) immediately.
How to include SOS in your project communications
Presentations
- When presenting your project (invited talks, project events, etc.), please acknowledge SOS as follows (if necessary, you may slightly modify the wording):
This work has been supported by the Centre for Sustainable Ocean Science (SOS) through its Project Booster funding. SOS is an Åbo Akademi University Centre of Excellence funded by the Åbo Akademi University Foundation during 2024–2028. SOS provides transdisciplinary knowledge on wicked problems linked to marine biodiversity and its role in the societal transition to sustainability, focusing on the Archipelago Sea and Åland Island area.
Social Media
- When posting about your project on social media, remember to tag SOS.
- We have profiles on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
SOS logo
- In presentation slides and printed materials (such as posters, flyers, etc.), please include the SOS logo.
You are not required to include the logo on every slide in the presentation. It is enough to include it, for example, on the cover slide, the final “thank you” slide, and/or a dedicated slide where funders are aknowledged. - The logo is available in PNG and PDF.
- The logo is available in three colors: blue, white, and black.
Please use the blue logo whenever possible. You may use the white or black version, if it is necessary for consistency or due to the color of the background (i.e. if there are multiple logos that are all in either black or white, or if the dark blue logo would not be clearly visible against the background image/color). - Please ensure adequate spacing between the SOS logo and other design elements (e.g., other logos).
- You can download the SOS logos below:
ÅAU and SÅA logos
- When you acknowledge/list project funders in presentation slides and printed materials, please include the Åbo Akademi University (ÅAU) and Åbo Akademi University Foundation (SÅA) logos in addition to the SOS logo.
Note that you are not required to include the logos on every slide in the presentation. It is enough to include them, for example, on the cover slide, the final “thank you” slide, and/or a dedicated slide where funders are aknowledged. - Please ensure adequate spacing between the logos and other design elements.
- You can download the Åbo Akademi University (ÅAU) logo in various formats, colors, and languages here.
- You can download the Åbo Akademi University Foundation (SÅA) logo in various formats, colors, and languages here.
- With any questions, please contact SOS coordinator Malla Lehtonen (malla.lehtonen@abo.fi / sos@abo.fi).
Publications
How to refer to SOS in publications
- In any publications resulting from the Booster-funded project, please acknowledge SOS as follows:
This work has been supported by the Centre for Sustainable Ocean Science (SOS) through its Project Booster funding. SOS is an Åbo Akademi University Centre of Excellence funded by the Åbo Akademi University Foundation during 2024–2028. SOS provides transdisciplinary knowledge on wicked problems linked to marine biodiversity and its role in the societal transition to sustainability, focusing on the Archipelago Sea and Åland Island area.
(If necessary, you may make the acknowledgement more concise by excluding the last sentence. You may also slightly modify the wording, if this is needed for matching the guidelines of the publication in question or for consistency among multiple acknowledgements.)
SOS Blog
- We wish that all Booster projects write a post for the SOS blog either during the project or after its completion.
- The post can have either one or multiple authors from the project team and it can either present the project overall or focus on a more specific topic/question related to it.
- The timing of the blog post is agreed upon with Malla Lehtonen (malla.lehtonen@abo.fi).
- Please see the instructions for authors and contact Malla with any questions.
Reporting
- Upon completion of the project, a project report must be submitted to the SOS steering group.
- Send your report as a PDF file to sos@abo.fi within three months after completion of the project. Please download and use this template.
