Siyu Li is a doctoral researcher within the network. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology from Zhengzhou University (China) and a Master of Education in Applied Psychology from East China Normal University. Before starting her doctoral position, she worked as a research assistant at Meiji Gakuin University (Japan) for one year. She is interested in using a serious gaming approach (i.e., Avatar Training) to provide a cost-effective and scalable way for interviewers to practice specific targeted interviewing techniques in both suspect and asylum interview contexts. Her PhD thesis focuses on the development and evaluation of the effectiveness of an avatar-based training approach in improving interviewers’ questioning skills and, consequently, the quality of asylum interviews. She will also examine effective interventions (e.g., timely and individualized feedback) that can be combined with asylum interviewee avatars to maximize training efficacy.
