Our mission is to foster interdisciplinary approaches to ocean sustainability by bringing together diverse perspectives, expertise, and innovations. Artists, organizations, and researchers interested in collaborating with SOS are invited to submit their proposals through our online form in Webropol.
Incoming proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis, and all applicants will be contacted via email as soon as their proposal has been evaluated.
Proposals for collaboration are evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to Sustainable Ocean Science:
Alignment of the proposed project with the center’s mission and focus areas in sustainable ocean science. - Interdisciplinary Approach:
Demonstration of how the project incorporates multiple disciplines and perspectives to address ocean sustainability challenges. - Innovation and Creativity:
Originality of the project concept and potential for innovative approaches to wicked problems. - Feasibility:
While we welcome unfinished ideas and explorative proposals, we value clarity and practicality regarding timelines, resources, and implementation strategies as much as possible in this early phase. - Collaborative Potential:
Evidence of a genuine willingness to collaborate across disciplines, in an open and equitable manner. - Expected Impact:
Potential for significant contributions to knowledge, policy, or practice in the field of sustainable ocean science. - Ethical Considerations:
A thoughtful approach to ethical implications related to the project, including diversity considerations, addressing power balance between disciplines and collaborators and environmental impact. - Experience and Expertise:
Relevant background and qualifications of the applicant(s) and their capacity to contribute to the proposed project effectively. - Funding Viability:
Clarity on funding sources, including any existing funding or potential for securing future support.
