Practical info
Registration
The event is free of cost. There will be coffee and snack available for registered participants who have registered by 21st October. Those wishing to participate remotely will receive the link to Zoom after they have registered. Register yourself here. It is possible to attend at the last minute without registration, but then neither seat nor coffee can be guaranteed.
Venue
Research day is held at Åbo Akademi University, Astra building, 1st floor lecture hall Castor (1048). There are 25 seats in the hall, and you can pick your seat freely. There is a student restaurant right next to the lecture hall on the same floor, open from 8 am to 2.30 pm. Astra’s street address is Porthaninkatu 3. See the map of Astra building.

Accessibility
Access to Astra building and the restaurant is barrier-free, and there are no random level changes anywhere. Wheelchair access preferably from the corner of Porthaninkatu and Henrikinkatu. You need an assistant to open the lecture hall door.
There are floor guides for visually impaired in the Astra building. The recommended entrance is from the corner of Porthaninkatu and Henrikinkatu. Follow the floor guides to stairwell A; there’s a second entrance to the Castor hall right opposite the stairwell A, just knock on the door.
Presentations will be given in Finnish, Swedish and English. If you need a sign language interpreter, you should book the interpreter yourself. Presentation material can be asked for beforehand, but it’s up to the speakers if they have any material to hand in advance.
The lecture hall Castor has muted colours and sound-dampening wall curtains and carpeting. If you need to rest, there are silent resting rooms available on the ground floor (room 0054) and 3rd floor (rooms 3015, 3016 and 3017).
Nearest gender neutral and accessible toilets are located on the same floor right next to the parade stairs to the ground floor.
You can contact Taru Luojola (taru.luojola@abo.fi, 050 351 0408) in anything related to accessibility in the event.
