RelEx-ACACIA Joint Research Seminar

On Tuesday, December 2nd, the RelEx project hosted a joint online research seminar with the ACACIA project, where both teams presented their work and discussed opportunities for future collaboration. The seminar served as a valuable platform for exchanging research insights, challenges, and experiences related to data collection, as well as strategies for working with vulnerable communities.
During the seminar, the researchers from RelEx and ACACIA teams discussed key considerations during their fieldwork. Among those considerations were the need for clear measures to ensure the safety of researchers and participants during and after data collection, as well as being considerate of “research fatigue,” which may be experienced by vulnerable groups approached by multiple research projects. Moreover, the researchers also reflected on moments of “research disillusionment,” when research participants express a sense of “then what?” moment after sharing their experiences, highlighting the importance of ethical research practice through proper communication of the research impact and managing the expectations of research participants.
The joint discussion brought several valuable insights and shared experiences between the RelEx and ACACIA teams that will guide the upcoming stages of both projects.
