Obed Appiah is a Doctoral researcher in psychology at Åbo Akademi within the network. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Philosophy and Classics from the University of Ghana and a Master of Science in Psychology (Research) from the University of Amsterdam. His interest in cross-cultural research and research on deception detection from the Lie Lab of the University of Amsterdam has ignited his interest in the current project. He seeks to help understand how deception research methods can help in real-life applications. His current focus is to help improve credibility assessments and decision-making in the Finnish immigration system when it comes to asylum seeking and to develop guidelines in the asylum system in the European Union (EU).
