She defended her doctoral thesis on reducing and measuring the cross-race effect in face recognition in August 2024.&nbsp; During her doctoral research, she developed a novel self-report inventory to predict eyewitness identification accuracy across different race groups and researched the role of individual differences in eyewitness accuracy and confidence. Following, Dilhan worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Penrod Lab at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. There, she researched AI-based methods of manipulating suspect\u2013filler similarity in lineups to enhance eyewitness performance. Dilhan holds a BA in Psychology from Ko\u00e7 University, an MSc in Legal Psychology from Maastricht University, and a PhD in Applied Psychology from Queen Margaret University of Edinburgh.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Her current research focuses on improving interviewing strategies in asylum contexts, particularly through an empirical cross-cultural experimental paradigm in which the ground truth of asylum claims is known. She is also exploring the potential applications of AI in this work.
