Her previous research and current PhD dissertation draw on the intersections of decolonial feminist, queer, and affect theory, focusing on the credibility assessment process in queer asylum claims in Greece. Since 2016, Sophia has specialized in asylum law, particularly in cases involving LGBTIQ+ applicants and unaccompanied minors, working with organizations such as the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA), the Greek Council for Refugees, and Safe Passage.
