Troublingly,&nbsp;current interviewing and decision-making methods are not entirely supported by psychological science. We are partnering with researchers and practitioners across Europe to&nbsp;develop and assess evidence-based asylum determination methods and train European asylum officials to improve the ways in Society                    <\/h3>\r\n                                            <p class=\"excerpt\">Dr Dilhan T\u00f6redi has been awarded the Grant-in-Aid for Early Career Professionals by the American Psychology-Law Society. The grant will enable her to undertake a study which aims to disentangle the effects of trust and confidentiality concerns from those arising from interpretation quality and other cross-cultural influences in interpreter-mediated asylum interviews. A central theme of the conference was the practical implementation of the M\u00e9ndez Principles and efforts to bridge the gap between best-practice guidance and real-world interviewing practices. Consistent with motivated cognition theory, the findings suggested that ideological beliefs shape how individuals perceive and evaluate the asylum system.
